The vamps and little mix assessment

Analysing music videos:How is sound used to represent /attract a target audience?

In the vamps music video of the song somebody to you woman are represented as sex objects like in laura mulvey theory in 1975 lyrics to prove this: "thinking bout way to get you off my mind" Things we connotate with this such as love, sex, relationships.

Within this song males are also represened as alpha males as explained in gauntletts argument in 2002 "This ground of mine keeps shaking oh oh oh" the first person plural pronoun mine portrays men calling the ground his like it is an object and he owns it this is a perfect example of alpha males within the music industry.

The music video also portrays men as sex objects as explained in the mackillon statement in 2002 using lyrics relating to him 'riding around' quotes from the song like "I used to ride around i didn't want to settle down" clearly connotates to him being a typical male sex object.

Youth being shown as depressed in stanley halls argument in 1904 is in the music video " overtime i look at you i just don't care" not caring proves the point of stanly halls theory of them finding excitement in drugs crime and sex.

  1. A solid first draft, showing some awareness of how the lyrics link to the theories. Targets:
    1) Use a capital letter at the start of band, theorist and song names.
    2) Do an introduction stating the demographic of your target audience.
    3) Punctuate quotes properly e.g. song like, "I used to ride around i didn't want to settle down," clearly connote
    4) Link all points back to how the lyrics/stereotypes represent and attract the target audience.
